Winners of one of the Colfax Marathon’s relays donated their cash prize to Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust this month.
More than $7,200 was raised from the Denver race May 17-18, during which a team of some 50 runners participated to support economically disadvantaged children attending Catholic schools.
One of Seeds of Hope’s relay teams won the Men’s Corporate Cup division relay and earned $2,500, which was given to the charity. Eric Eisinger, Joey Eisinger, Jason Hilgers, Taylor Ronne and Jon Pink completed the 26.2-mile marathon with a time of 2:44:33. They were awarded a check June 16.
“These proceeds will directly support tuition assistance for students in this next school year. We are so thankful that Eric and his team chose Seeds of Hope as the recipient of their hard work,” said Seeds of Hope director Natalie Mesko.
Eric Eisinger, an Our Lady of Fatima School graduate and current engineer at URS Corporation, partnered with Seeds of Hope because of his Catholic education.
“I give my Catholic education a lot of credit for the way I have developed as a person,” Eisinger said. “I think that having a caring and loving environment to learn in is invaluable. Feeling secure and cared for allows kids to actually extend their minds toward learning, intellect, and development.”
Seeds of Hope’s staff also participated in the race including Mesko, Kristen Caudle and Gina Wilson.
Seeds of Hope supports Catholic education by providing tuition assistance, scholarships, operating support and grants for local elementary and high schools serving low-income and high-minority populations in the inner city.
