Marchers in the Celebrate Life March at the Colorado State Capitol this Saturday, Jan. 13, should feel some encouragement in the fight to defend life after seeing Planned Parenthood’s annual report.
The report, published New Year’s Eve, indicates a continual decline in non-abortion services that’s been on a downward trend over the past five years.
In an email newsletter sent by pro-life group The Susan B. Anthony List, a series of statistics show that the other medical services purported to be offered by Planned Parenthood have been gradually reducing.
The organization’s total services offered have dropped from approximately 11,033,366 to 9,357,592. Prenatal care services have declined by over 60%. Contraceptive services have declined by nearly one million.
The number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood has remained steady over the past five years. In that period, they’ve performed more than 1.6 million abortions, and performed approximately 126 abortions for every adoption referral.
However, while Planned Parenthood may still be performing the same amount of abortions annually, the total number of abortions performed is dropping nationwide.
It’s a welcome boost of encouragement for the hundreds of pro-life advocates who will participate in this Saturday’s march, which is placing an emphasis on women leading the charge.
“Here in Colorado, our lifestyle is one of optimum health. Our women are very aware of what they eat and drink, and are coming to the realization that contraceptives contain hormones that are not completely safe,” said Lynn Grandon, Respect Life Office program director at Catholic Charities of Denver “They are embracing methods of natural fertility awareness that are safe and effective. Our march will be led by the women of ENDOW – who are leading the charge in educating women to embrace their God-given dignity.”
