PHOTOS: Mountaintop Moment: National Eucharistic Pilgrimage arrives in Colorado!

The largest pilgrimage in United States history has arrived in the Archdiocese of Denver!

Having crossed the Colorado border, the pilgrimage visited St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish in Rangely, the parish furthest west in the archdiocese. Local parishioners welcomed Jesus in prayer and community, celebrating the historic occasion and seeing him off as he visits other parish communities across northern Colorado.

From Rangely, the pilgrimage made its way to Holy Name Catholic Parish in Steamboat Springs, where a Eucharistic art show has been exhibited for the past few days.

The parish community welcomed the Eucharistic Lord, celebrating Eucharistic Adoration Wednesday evening, as well as Mass followed by a procession Thursday morning.

In the spirit of St. Junípero Serra, the Franciscan missionary known for his evangelical travels across the western United States for whom the western route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage is named, parishioners walked with Jesus through their community and up Emerald Mountain.

From Steamboat Springs, the pilgrimage travels to Camp St. Malo’s St. Catherine Chapel on the Rock, then to Boulder, visiting St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish Thursday evening.

Upon arrival to the Denver metro area, the pilgrimage will weave through the City, visiting St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish in Arvada, Light of the World Catholic Parish in Littleton, the Augustine Institute, Holy Protection Byzantine Catholic Church in Denver, Christ in the City, the Mother Cabrini Shrine, the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver and Holy Ghost Catholic Parish in Denver before heading out to the Eastern Plains of Colorado next week.
