Join students to pray at abortion group’s fundraiser

Students for Life of America invite Colorado youth to join in a peaceful prayer vigil this Saturday afternoon outside a fundraiser for the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL) in downtown Denver.

NARAL, a supporter of recently debated abortion rights legislation, Senate Bill 175 that died in the Colorado Senate April 16, will host the“NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado Annual Auction and Celebration” April 26. The event themed “Voice for Choice: We Will Be Heard” will be held at the Grand Hyatt Denver downtown and include speakers: Gov. John Hickenlooper, Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colorado, and Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham, D-New Mexico.

“This is an opportunity for high school and college students to openly display their commitment to abolish abortion in their lifetime,” explained Lauren “Lo” Martinez, Rocky Mountain Regional Coordinator for Students for Life of America. “(Our intention is to be) present during the VIP dinner where Governor Hickenlooper and Senator Udall are special guests and speaking at the event.”

Organizers aim to show NARAL and its guests that Colorado students “care about life” and “stand up for it,” she said.

“Coming off of the most recent pro-abortion Senate Bill 175—that did not pass, thankfully, last week—we need to continue our efforts to show the strength of our pro-life voices!” Martinez said. “Join us at this peaceful prayer vigil. We really need several students present to make a big impact.”

To join in the 30-minute prayer vigil, from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., students are asked to gather across the street from the Grand Hyatt Denver downtown, 1750 Welton St., on northwest side of Welton, between 17th and 18th streets, shortly before 5:15 p.m. Organizers emphasized to allow time for parking.
