Our friends at Catholic Charities of Denver need our help! With a dramatic increase in families arriving to their shelters seeking assistance in recent weeks, they have put out a request for immediate assistance.
Wondering how your parish and you can help? Here are five quick ways to consider!
Five Ways You Can Help
1. Donate clothes + hygiene items Catholic Charities is in immediate need of these items to support families arriving to Denver!
2. Make sack lunches to hand out Even if Catholic Charities doesn’t have space for every person, they are handing out food to ensure no one goes hungry. Support this effort by providing sack lunches!
3. Send financial support Can’t run to the store or deliver items? You can always support Catholic Charities’ efforts to serve our brothers and sisters by donating funds.
4. Volunteer Help sort donations, welcome new people, translate for clients, provide meals, and so much more! Give of your time by volunteering with Catholic Charities!
5. Pray! The power of prayer is real! Join us in interceding for these families, all those who serve them and our government officials, that we may work together to serve our brothers and sisters in need!
Five Ways Your Parish Can Help
1. Organize a clothing + hygiene item drive Collect items at your parish and drop them off at Catholic Charities! Families are arriving without coats, shoes and hygiene items and are in dire need.
2. Make sack lunches to hand out Many hands make for light work! Form an assembly line and package lunches to be handed out to the thousands of families arriving weekly, either at your parish or at Catholic Charities.
3. Send over a piggy bank Collect funds in a way that makes sense – maybe it’s a jar for change or a special initiative – and help Catholic Charities provide for our brothers and sisters arriving at their doors.
4. Volunteer Gather a group from your community, pick a day and help sort donations, translate for clients or provide a meal.
5. Pray! Consider adding these families to your daily or weekly prayers as a community. The power of prayer is real!
