Denver Capuchins to walk in the footsteps of Servant of God Julia Greeley

Local Capuchin Franciscans are hitting the streets of Denver to walk in the footsteps of our very own “Angel of Charity” next month.

Servant of God Julia Greeley is best known for her deep faith and profound charity towards those in need, pulling a red wagon filled with donations to give out. She often did so at great physical pain, with recent forensic examinations revealing she suffered from severe arthritis.

The Capuchin pilgrimage will honor the holy woman’s example, traveling 22 miles and visiting 17 locations connected to Servant of God Julia Greeley and concluding at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver, where she has been entombed since 2017.

“Last year’s pilgrimage motivated me to want to be more like Julia Greeley in her passion to [make the] love of Christ known throughout the world,” one 2023 pilgrim stated. “It is so easy to wall out people who have hurt you in the past but that never stopped Julia Greeley. I want to be as colorblind as Julia Greeley and as creative in personifying Christ to others.”

The pilgrimage is scheduled to take place on July 27, beginning in north Denver.
