Now more than ever young people are inundated with countless voices telling them what to do. “You must go to college” or “You must find a job in your declared major” or even “Follow whatever makes you happy, not some god.” This has led to so many young people feeling fatigued, forlorn, fearful, foggy, and inevitably becoming fatalists.
What is holding you back?
As a young adult, you may struggle to understand what desires God has given you and to where God is calling you next. Ever since you graduated from high school your life seemed pre-programmed, but now you realize that what you’ve been doing for the last several years is not necessarily what you wanted at all. What if you had a place to step out of your day-to-day existence and realize all God has given you and to what he is calling you next?
That is why the Saint John Leadership Institute developed the Rise Above retreat, happening Oct. 30 – Nov. 5. This is a week-long immersion retreat consisting of two days of AUDEO Leadership formation with Father Nathan Cromly, CSJ to explore what’s holding you back from chasing the desires and dreams God has placed in your heart. These two days of intense formation are followed by three days of inspirational activities consisting of experiences in downtown Denver where you will encounter the homeless, hike in the heights of the Rocky Mountains and receive 12 hours of intellectual formation throughout the week. These experiences will change the way you view yourself and the world. Father Nathan will offer thought provoking insights and leadership lessons from the Word of God; Father John Michael Paul, CSJ will teach you the fundamentals of Catholic Spirituality, and how to apply it to your daily life to see the opportunities that God has placed before you and rise above the limitations you impose on yourself and others.
Before and during the retreat you will receive individual strengths-based coaching regarding life, career, and team dynamics to leave with greater understanding of how to cooperate and further develop your God-given talents to live a more meaningful and satisfying life for God’s glory. This retreat blends activity and engagement with daily down-time for prayer with the Brothers of Saint John and a talk on discernment and vocation at the end of the retreat to answer questions that may arise throughout the week from the many experiences and personal insights from coaching. You will stay at the Fatima House on the campus of the Saint John Institute.
The end result of this retreat: you will leave with clarity about what’s holding you back and the confidence to move forward in life.
